Chiropractic Manipulation

Chiropractic manipulation, or chiropractic adjustments, are used on the spine or other joints in the body intended to restore normal motion to these joints. There are many ways to adjust the joints of your body. It can be done by hand or with the use of special instruments.

The chiropractic adjustment is great for people who lack motion in their joints. Most people have had a stiff neck, back, or just felt like something wasn’t moving quite right. The adjustment allows the joint to move in its full range of motion again. There are also other techniques that are often used in conjunction with adjustments such as myofascial release and postural correction exercises which often achieve the best results when used in combination.

Chiropractic adjustments have been heavily researched for safety and effectiveness. They are considered a very safe and effective option for treatment in many joint conditions across the body.

There are a variety of ways to adjust joints, some of which use less force than others. One of the great things about this fact is that if a particular adjustment isn’t restoring the motion we are hoping for or is not comfortable for the patient there are alternative options to get that joint moving to full range of motion again.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is a therapy used to treat sensitivity and tightness in your tissues. The pain usually originates from a “trigger point” sometimes referred to as a knot. “Trigger points” can also refer pain to different areas of the body. They are typically your bodies attempt to stabilize an area that lacks stability. We will use myofascial release to treat these trigger points. However, this treatment will typically be followed with a series of stabilization exercises to prevent the “trigger points” from developing in the future. Dr. Kintigh has been trained in active release technique as well as ischemic compression and these are the two main techniques he utilizes for myofascial release.

Rehabilitation Therapy

We use corrective and rehabilitative exercise programs tailored to your specific condition to help reeducate movement patterns, strengthen weak and inhibited muscles, and restore symmetry to your posture. Eliminating repetitive strain caused by improper posture and poor movement patterns is often the key to faster recovery from both chronic and acute pain symptoms.

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) is an innovative, evidence-based soft tissue therapy that utilizes specially designed stainless-steel instruments to specifically detect and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis and chronic inflammation. The tools enable clinicians to locate and break down scar tissue and fascial adhesions. The therapy promotes healing, tissue strength, and tissue mobility by stimulating the production of cellular fibroblasts that help to remodel the scar tissue into more functional tissue.

Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy is a fantastic compliment to chiropractic care in many cases. A massage with our Licensed Massage Therapist can greatly benefit the musculoskeletal, fascial, and lymphatic systems. Of course, a massage also stimulates the body's parasympathetic nervous system to put the body into a state of relaxation and healing.
